Back stitch is usually taught as a beginner stitch because you can use it on just about any pattern. Sometimes an entire pattern can be done using only back stitch. Practice getting each stitch even in length and not pulling too tightly. You’ll know you’ve pulled too tight when your fabric bunches under your stitching. Paying attention to those two things will immediately transition the look of your stitching from beginner to intermediate.
